Day 108 for Feed My Reads recommended in 2022 and we welcome an author who will no doubt be appearing in our list again, Helen Pugh.  This entry is Mama Chira: How to Negotiate With an Emperor and is really fantastic piece despite being a short read and one that more readers should check out. A drought-ridden region. A mighty emperor. A humble village woman. From the author of Intrepid Dudettes of the Inca Empire comes a retelling of the fascinating Inca legend of Mama Chira, passed down from generation to generation in southern Peru. Adapted for adults from Inca-tastic Tales. Review: The times of the Inca are a period of history that many would feel we have lost to the ages but Helen Pugh is able to bring to life some of the history and whilst this is a short book (around 13 pages) it is a very interesting read.  The fact that Helen focuses on the strong female who is willing to risk death and stand for what she believes is a really great thing and very relevant in our modern...

Jessica Piro is bringing you day 106 of Feed My Reads recommended in 2022 with her brilliant book It's the Small Things That Matter. As a soldier in the Rebellion, Cyrian has seen death, but nothing could’ve prepared him for the bloodbath he discovers. Or the butcher being a woman, chained to a wall and bleeding from the slash at her mouth. She looks ready to add him to the body count… Review: Imagine entering a space where a bloodbath awaits you, now imagine that you discover a woman chained to the wall with a weapon in her hand and a look that tells you that you could very well be next.  When Cyrian finds just this scene he can't imagine that this sight would meet him but even less can he believe what he finds when he speaks to the woman and discovers her story of how she had ended up in this predicament. Feed My Reads recommended in 2022 day 104 sees another horror entry as Ouija by Zoe-Lee O'Farrell brings the horror, suspense, twists and turns that so many love to read. The only thing for certain is the deaths were no accident. Rayner High School once a prestigious school stands in ruins after such a terrible event. A year later, a group of friends return to the abandoned school and their nightmare begins. Something wants to get out and won’t take  NO  for an answer… Review: After a tragic event at the local school leads to the building being abandoned, a group of teens decide to try out a ouija board session within the school but after things take a turn for the worse can they escape with their lives and sanity intact or will it all be too late for them? This is a horror book that reads much like the point horror stories of old and for me this is something that made it a read I truly loved as it was a reminder of how much I loved reading those books.  The story itself ...

Another childrens book is our day 103 for Feed My Reads recommended in 2022 as we welcome along The Worst Class in the World in Danger! by Joanna Nadin.  This was a book that I went into having no real thoughts on what to expect but it was a pleasant surprise and one I could see children really enjoying. A hilarious and exclusive World Book Day book featuring THE WORST CLASS IN THE WORLD - or are they? Perfect for fans of Horrid Henry. Head teacher Mrs Bottomley-Blunt thinks 4B is the WORST CLASS IN THE WORLD. She says school is not about footling or fiddle-faddling or FUN. It is about LEARNING and it is high time 4B tried harder to EXCEL at it. But best friends Stanley and Manjit won't let that stop them. They have a FOOLPROOF PLAN to write the most FUN and DANGEROUS book EVER. It's LITERALLY going to be the most OUTSTANDING (and dangerous) World Book Day! Contains superglue, wild animals and a very daring rescue! Review: Imagine being in a class at your school that has a repu...

Feed My Reads recommended in 2022 and we are at day 102 which sees Graham Norton enter our list with his quick read The Swimmer.  There was never a plan to read work by Graham Norton but when picking up a number of quick read books I decided we had to try it for the community to know if this was someone worth checking out and must say that it was a pleasant surprise. Helen is a retired teacher living on the Irish coast. She enjoys the peace and quiet - despite the burden of Margaret, her unpleasant sister. Margaret arrived three years ago for a short holiday, but somehow managed to stay and worm her way into Helen's life. One day, Helen sees a man struggling in the sea and decides to investigate. She doesn't quite know what it is, but something about it feels very strange... Review: Helen is retired and finds herself sitting on the beach with a nice little glass of something to just watch the world go by but after spotting a man enter the water to go for a swim and then finding...

Kayleigh Richardson interview

Image
AUTHOR INTERVIEW When did your love of books begin? My love of books began when I was young I’ve always loved the stories of Arthur Conan Doyle and wrote a few short stories of my own when I was a young kid around 7. When did you start to have the wish to become an author? When I was 13 I found I had a lot of time during the lockdown and I thought I could give it a shot and see where I may end up and eventually I’ve got to the point of being a published author. How have you found the process for becoming an author? It’s been tough! But I’ve had a lot of support and for that I’m very grateful. Everyone on Twitter has been incredible and building up this following has enabled me to meet new writers and incredible people on the journey. The publishing process was long and sometimes slow but toward the end things got better and I’m finding it really enjoyable now. What would you say to those wanting to become an author? To those wanting to become an author I would say go for it and don’t f...

AUTHOR INTERVIEW A little introduction: I am Author and Blogger, Danae Decker. Author of "Life in Katie's Shoes," and Blogger at  www.authordanaedecker.com  . I have a background in business, and currently, work at a tech company. In addition to writing being a passion, I enjoy mountain biking, golfing, hiking, backpacking, climbing, reading, and currently learning acoustic guitar. I am a believer in self-improvement and enjoying life on your own terms.   When did your love of books begin? As a child, I loved the Junie B. Jones series. My kindergarten teacher read us multiple copies, and I remember how fun and whimsical the books were. As I grew up through the years, my taste in books has evolved. For a bit, I was worried that reading others’ work would deter my own. However, over the last year, I have fallen back into a routine of finding my love for reading others’ written adventures. I appreciate how reading others’ work can help teach me lessons on my own wr...

The journey of an author is one that readers really don't have much visibility of but What Are Words Worth? by Pete May gives an amazing insight into his author journey and manages to be charming, funny, relatable and for all these reasons and more it is our day 97 Feed My Reads recommended in 2022. Writing is not the glamorous or rich occupation some assume.  What Are Words Worth?  is Pete May’s wry, humorous look at the life of a jobbing writer. Pete’s house has subsidence and there’s cacophonous drilling from next door’s extension being built. Sacks of wood keep arriving on the doorstep, a rat has appeared in the loo and a feral fox is depositing takeaway containers and colostomy bags in the garden. Agents don’t return emails and commissioning editors reject his ideas, while his wife is standing on a wobble cushion doing pretend paddle boarding with a broom. Meanwhile Pete’s lecturing a beggar on how the print industry is dying and a life coach is telling him to stand in a ...
