Teri M Brown - My Dinner Party

Where are you holding your dinner party? On the beach at sunset. I love the NC beach, but for this dinner party, the scene will be Sveti Stefan Beach in Montenegro. I visited this country before writing Sunflowers Beneath the Snow and wanted to stay and write! What's the occasion you are holding the dinner party for? No occasion! Just life. If you have an opportunity to hold a dinner party in Montenegro, then you should. It's as simple as that!  Who are your five guests and why are they invited? It's a shame that I have to limit it to five. I'll feel terrible leaving out anyone who wanted to come! So, I'll have a drawing. If you want to be invited, put your name in the hat. But don't worry, if you don't get to come to this dinner party, I'll have more, so you can try again! What food are you serving? Local fare, of course. We'll definitely have Buzara - a garlicky seafood dish cooked in a white wine sauce, Cevapi - spiced chicken skewered and grilled...

Where are you holding your dinner party? My dinner party is being held at my home in rural Kentucky. There are beautiful wild areas for my guests to visit during their stay and a lovely bed and breakfast within a 15 minute drive that can host them overnight if they’d like.   What's the occasion you are holding the dinner party for? I am  holding   a  dinner party in celebration of the completion of my first novel. Not the publi cation, because I believe the first success has nothing to do with the accolades or recognition  of others. The victory comes from achieving your goal and having it written and edited. I know that’s six but these people have been the most supportive of me in the reading community, through comments of encouragement, retweets, and more. There have been many, many others bec...

A.A. Chaudhuri - My Dinner Party

Where are you holding your dinner party? In a luxury villa in Sorrento, Italy, overlooking Mount Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples, one of my all-time favourite places in the world where I spent many holidays as a child and got married. We’d dine al fresco beside the villa’s swimming pool and to the whirr of cicadas chattering in the balmy evening air.  What's the occasion you are holding the dinner party for? Girlie weekend away in the height of summer – my favourite season - because we all totally deserve one!  Who are your five guests and why are they invited? Can I have one more guest please?? If so, it would have to be six smart, kind and generous women who I’ve known for some time now, and who have been hugely supportive of my writing over the years: outside of the writing community my friends Erica, Chika and Priya, and from the literary world, book blogger extraordinaire Danielle Price, along with my agents, Annette Crossland and Kirstie Long. I think everyone would get o...

I think they'd have to be Holly Jackson, Leigh Bardugo, V.E. Schwab, Sophie Gonzales and Kara Thomas. They're all some of my favourite authors, and I'd love to have the opportunity to pick their brains about their work! What food are you serving? Well, for a starter I think we'd have something relatively simple, like a soup. For our main course we'd have a full Christmas roast, with turkey and pigs in blankets served with some vegetables (and of course a vegan alternative). Finally, for dessert we'd have something fun... Jelly and ice cream! What's your cocktail or mocktail for the dinner party? A classic snowball cocktail, perfect for Christmas. ...

Alex Mcloughlin - My Dinner Party

Deep within the mind of an ancient alien creature, upon a high cliff overlooking a vast ocean, stands a simple stone table. Time is coming to an end and all will soon be erased, even from the cavernous memory of the nameless watchers. Two empty chairs stand at either end of the table, a third lies overturned like a broken promise. The spirit of a long-dead poet stands to one side, gazing sadly downwards to the viscous waves, which lap lovingly against the crumbling rocks. A young woman approaches the table, glancing at the jug of wine and single silver goblet that rest upon a dusty leather-bound book, her eyes sardonic as she chides me with a shake of her head.  You expected to find nourishment here?  she seems to ask.  What purpose could that possibly serve?  A solitary gull sounds a plaintive cry in the distance and then all is silent. The poet looks longingly towards the woman, as she casts the book from the cliff, before his form slowly evaporates in the dying li...

Where are you holding your dinner party? As soon as I saw this question the first place that sprung to mind was where I got married, Grittleton House. This was a gorgeous venue and the driveway at night is absolutely gorgeous.
