Petra Baillie interview

AUTHOR INTERVIEW   A little introduction:  I am a 27 year old woman from the idyllic west coast of Scotland. Like most new writers, I have a day job and often describe myself as a ‘weary teacher by day and a witty writer by night’. Being a busy teacher and writer means I must be strict with my goals. A very powerful quote from author Anne Tyler states: “If I waited until I felt like writing, I’d never write at all.” Although we may not want this to be true, it is. As writers, we want our writing to be an art where we pick up the paintbrush whenever inspiration strikes. The reality is, that if we don’t just  write  then nothing would get written at all. I can stare at my screen for an eternity waiting for that perfect “A-HA” moment, but despite how I feel, I know that if I just type and write, it will flow. So for the past couple of years, that is exactly what I have been doing. Letting it flow… The very first piece I wrote as an author was my middle grade novel, The Strange and Wonderf

Feed My Reads star score badges

Image
Hello to everyone reading this and just to say a massive thank you for taking time time out to do so. If you have been part of the Feed My Reads community you may notice we do things a little bit differently and this is yet another example of this. If you are part of our community then you love books and so in an ideal world we would have every single book you read be reviewed but we all realise this is not an ideal world that we live in and so things like mental health, confidence in your own reviewing abilities, etc all cause those reviews to not be posted and so readers not hear your opinions and authors also not get the praise that they deserve.  Once again we tried to think outside of the box in how to make it easier for you to leave your feelings about the books you're reading even if you are not able for any reason to review (even if it maybe that you are going to review a little later). So...what's the idea? It's a very simple one...we have created these badges that

K.M. Harding interview

Image
AUTHOR INTERVIEW   A little introduction: Hi, I’m Kerry. I write romantic suspense/thriller books under the name K.M. Harding. Originally, I’m a Lancashire lass, but I now live in Cumbria with my husband, two kids, our crazy dog and a permanently grumpy bearded dragon.   When did your love of books begin? I’ve loved books ever since I was a little kid. There’s nothing I love more than escaping reality and getting lost in a good book.   When did you start to have the wish to become an author? Even though my love for writing started in high school, it was roughly January of this year I realised becoming a published author was something I wanted. I always thought I was writing for pleasure, but after letting my husband read my work, he suggested publishing and the seed was planted.   How have you found the process for becoming an author? Interesting. It’s been an incredible journey of highs and lows, and a steep learning curve, for sure, from finding the right editors, the self-publishi

Andre Jones interview

AUTHOR INTERVIEW A little introduction: Meh - my least favourite subject … Born in Australia to Dutch parents, but they divorced when I was about five, so moved around a hell of a lot. (If you think you need to have a solid education to write and publish books, you’d be wrong.) Needless to say I ended my school years when I joined the Royal Australian Navy. The first time was a short stint, but thirteen years later I rejoined the Navy, and completed almost 20 years before I finally left. In a nutshell, the Navy was the best of times, and the worst of times. And I recommend it to anyone - unless you want to be a writer. :) I'm a reluctant runner, meaning I can do it, but why would you if you didn’t have to? And yes, I did a lot of running in the Navy. However, I hate being a commuter on public transport more. If it’s a choice between sitting on a tram or train (I don’t do buses), I’ll jog to work .. before I retired that is. And … I will run for charity; in 2017 I ran solo 3,400km

Married with two grown up daughters by marriage and five grandchildren with another one on the way. All things being well! I joined the Metropolitan Police in December 1977 one of the first intake of women officers to do the same job for equal pay. I retired after 30 years to look after my father who had  Parkinsons. Returning to Hertfordshire I re-connected with old childhood friends which was  lovely, including my now husband Raymond who was my childhood sweetheart!  When did your love of books begin? I have always loved reading. My childhood wasn’t the happiest and escaping into books was definitely my safe & happy place. My favourite book was Black Beauty and anything else to do with animals. As soon as I got my pocket money I would catch the bus into town to buy a book. I can still recall the pleasure and excitement of going into a book sh
