Book -  Season of the Monster: Spring Author -  AJ Humphreys Rating -  Review: People going missing with little to no leads sees police battle to come up with information that can point them in the right direction but as more people appear to be going missing can they get to the bottom of things before it's too late? The fact that rumours and myths have to come from somewhere means that surely you can never dismiss anything but on the other hand can you believe in something when you simply can't find the evidence to prove it? This book is one that is well written, delivers a well thought out and delivered story and for me is a great start to what could easily become a series with many books as the development plus potential for more is very clear for the reader to see. An excellent start to the series and book 2 is all lined up next.

Book -  The Little Book of Psychology Author -  Emily Ralls & Caroline Riggs Rating -  Review: With so many different mental health conditions and understandings of the human mind still developing it is interesting to have an understanding of just how far things have come in the field of psychology and a little about some of the beliefs of the major names in the field and that is exactly what this book sets out to do.  This is not a book which is aiming to delve deep into psychology but is instead to give an overview of some theories, beliefs and understandings of psychology and enable the reader to gain some comprehension of the field so they can see if this is something they may wish to do a deep dive on. For me this was an interesting book which gives a good balance of being simple to understand but not tying to dumb down the information for the reader.  The authors have clearly worked to put things in a format and flow that will work and for me I found this to be one of the big

Book -  The Spread: Book 6 (Annihilation) Author -  Iain Rob Wright Rating -  Review: The Earth has been under attack and mankind has lost many battles along the way but they are now at the point of reckoning and have to overcome huge odds to win the war.  The final stand is here but can the humans overcome everything against them despite their fatigue and injuries? The series which has previously delivered five excellent books is now finally at the end and the author once again delivers a brilliant read and a perfect ending to the series.  This is a horror series that has delivered each and every time and the final book has not let me down. This is a series I highly recommend and an author who is very much at the top of their game. Small markdown?  Just slight editing.

Book -  The Spread: Book 5 (Turning Point) Author -  Iain Rob Wright Rating -  Review: The Earth is not the place it used to be and Aaron is not the person he used to be either.  He had the infection but has survived for longer than the others he has witnessed who got infected.  The biggest question is how much longer can he keep that human part of himself going and be that hero who continues to fight to save mankind? The battle for the survival of humanity continues and develops with yet more threats coming to take on an ever decreasing human population but can mankind put aside the differences and see everyone pull together to fight the true enemy? This is another fantastic addition to this series and the fact these characters keep developing is a true level of quality that you don't always find in the horror genre and for me it has been exciting to find an author who is delivering a superb storyline which has twists and turns but never loses the quality.

Book -  The Spread: Book 4 (The Road) Author -  Iain Rob Wright Rating -  Review: The fungus has continued its spread and the undead continue to roam the lands but at least the army have managed to create a station in Edinburgh to hold the evil at bay thanks to the large fences, the moats dug around the encampment and the use of the bleach and chemicals to kill the fungus as much as possible.  Each day sees the survivors fear attack from the undead, the animals and even the army itself as people go stir crazy but is this really the best option or are they simply sitting ducks? Another amazing addition to this horror series that keeps you guessing and new twists coming.  The story itself has not dropped in quality and the smallest of editing issues are the bit that holds this from being a five star read but as this is another shining example of the quality of work that Iain Rob Wright is creating and why he is considered to be one of the best in the horror genre.

Book -  The Spread: Book 3 (The Stand) Author -  Iain Rob Wright Rating -  Review: The fungus is spreading... The body count keeps rising... It's time to fight back through the army. Ryan and his brother may have managed to remain alive so far but it is surely just a matter of time before the fungus, the zombie like people or the infected animals get to them and put an end to that but can the army take a stand and battle back against the evil that is wreaking havoc? Another offering in the series and yet again an example of how to deliver a horror story from one of the top authors in the genre.  The series has developed not just the story but the characters too and the fact this is continuing in this book too means it has the same feel as the previous pieces in the series. Recommend it?  You should already be reading this series by now!

Book -  The Spread: Book 2 (The Village) Author -  Iain Rob Wright Rating -  Review: With the bachelor party having fallen by the wayside and survival becoming the main aim for the weekend we now find Ryan focus on protecting his brother and getting as many of his party to safety but having reached the village and finding the green fungus has spread and that they are not very welcome it is going to see them pushed to limits they can't even imagine. The fact this horror sees a story that flows so well and developing in a way that draws the reader in and desperate to continue the journey with characters who you develop an attachment to thanks to excellent writing.  The small markdown is for small editing issues but this is an excellent continuation of this exciting series.

Book -  The Spread: Book 1 (The Hill) Author -  Iain Rob Wright Rating -  Review: A bachelor party in the Scottish highlands is a perfect chance for Ryan, his brother and their pals to let off steam and have a full on weekend that will be the perfect send off for the non-married life but the greenery all around them isn't going to be the green that will have the biggest impact on their weekend. When a green fungus begins to appear and starts to spread the friends can't imagine that this is just the start and as zombie like beings begin to appear things are not looking great but surely this'll pass? This is a truly excellent piece of horror writing that has a couple of edits that take the small amount off the score but this is a story that draws you in and sees you looking like a zombie due to you refusing to put the book down when you should be sleeping.  This is a great book and comes highly recommended.

Book - Autem (Book 2 of the Sationem Series) Author - Lisa Ann Rowe Rating -  Review: The second instalment of this series sees the continuation of our story as Hazel looks to gain strength in her battle to take over the lands or will good overcome evil? This book is one that has better editing than the first instalment and as I was moving along in the story I was hopeful this would prove to push it to a higher score but instead found myself not drawn in to the actual storyline as much as the first offering.  The ending left me feeling deflated and wondering if I would continue on with any other instalments in the series if there were to be any and in all honesty I think it would be one of those where I would potentially add it to the to be read list but in no rush to get to it.
