AUTHOR INTERVIEW A little introduction: Frank Malley is a former journalist who writes crime fiction, sometimes funny and quirky, sometimes dark and intriguing. His new novel, The 13th Assassin, is a murder mystery cum spy thriller. When did your love of books begin? Back to Enid Blyton and the Famous Five and Secret Seven. As a child I loved the world you could inhabit via ink on a blank piece of paper. I devoured them, not realising that they would lead to a lifelong love of reading and fiction. When did you start to have the wish to become an author? I was a news and sports journalist for many years, travelling the world reporting on all sports and big events such as the Olympics and football world cups. I wrote a memoir of my experiences, Living on the Deadline, which was well received and I enjoyed the writing experience. It inspired me to try to realise a long-time ambition to write a novel. AUTHOR INTERVIEW When did your love of books begin? At the age of 9. Due to a childhood accident, I had to remain at home for the entire summer of 1967. I had a lot of time on my hands and got tired of watching The Three  Stooges and Abbott & Costello on TV. That led to my discovery of books, starting with those assigned to my older brother who was in High School. The first book I remember reading in it's entirety was "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich." When did you start to have the wish to become an author? In College. Still working on that first book idea ("Speak No Evil") How have you found the process for becoming an author? Tedious What would you say to those wanting to become an author? Discipline + creative exploration = the best combination. Read the works of great writers. Write what you know and write every day. Do not get in your own way by self-editing. Let the words just flow out of you. "Think it and they will (words) will come."

Book -  But It’s Okay If I Do It: True Confessions of an Unintentional A$$hole Author -  Shirley Laffa Rating -  Review: A very clever and entertaining book about inappropriate things we may have all done at one time or another... YIKES. I actually laughed out loud at some of the situations described. It's written with such humility and humour that it feels very recognizable... or maybe I'm an a$$hole too, I'm not sure! HILARIOUS book that will definitely be re-read.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW A little introduction: Always seek the treasure of your own true self. These words guide my work with other people and show up in my writing. I live in beautiful British Columbia with my two dogs, my husband, and his two cats. As well as writing, I enjoy playing in mud. I have a potter’s wheel and kiln in my shop. When did you start to have the wish to become an author? I remember having a desire to be an author when I was in high school but life happened and that was not in the cards at that time. How have you found the process for becoming an author? The process has been quite rewarding for me. Not only am I learning the editing process but I find writing is a very effective therapeutic tool. What would you say to those wanting to become an author? I would say it does not matter how eloquent you write or what words you use, the main thing is to get your idea down on paper before you forget it. You can always go back and change the wording.
