Feed My Reads blog - a journey

Many of you will now have read at least one post that has been created for our timetofeedmyreads.blogspot.com blog home but getting our blog to where it is has taken a lot of time and has been a real journey so far and so I decided to give a little overview on just what has gone into this for our community.


1 - A decision is made to have a blog space for the Feed My Reads community:

Having decided to develop Feed My Reads as a community that will offer as many spaces as possible it then became a decision on how a Feed My Reads blog would work, look and feel.  I decided to sit and draw up many ideas and worked through them to determine how the content itself would look and how we would be able to have a central location for items to be able to be linked to and so be easier to locate for our readers.


2 - The blog is created:

The blog is setup and the design work done prior to launch is all then worked on in the background to create central pages to link our features to.  This is a new venture and as as any blogger or author will tell you, it is not as simple as creating the work and putting it out there with the knowledge people will come and read what you have written and so work is ongoing in the background, even as we are launching the blog, to determine how it will work best to get our blog noticed so that we can spread the word of those featuring on the space.


3 - Our first ever posts go live on our blog:

Having set things up fully we are now proudly able to begin posting as at the 8th of October 2021 and post a total of 5 things on our first day as per the below links -

We see that the posts are being checked out and are amazed when a post reaches double figures as Feed My Reads has only just launched and having a blog which appears to be working is amazingly exciting.



4 - We post our first author interviews and see that these are getting some notice:

Having seen our posts gaining some attention and people commenting on how much they are enjoying our blog, a decision is taken to begin to offer up author interviews and blogger interviews in order to give a better insight to the people we are reading work by.  Our first 3 author interviews go live on 17th October 2021 and a book blogger interview feature is put live just one day prior on 16th October 2021.  You can see just how consistent these posts have remained by comparing them to what we post now.

5 - We find ourselves looking at numbers we never expected:

As we continue to post more content we discover that some of our posts are getting in excess of 50 views, which was never really expected and then when we found ourselves seeing our interview with Anthony Di Angelo has gone to in excess of 400 views we are shocked by how well this blog is being received and so continue to have organisation in place so we can continue to deliver the same quality of content as people are appearing to love.


6 - Feed My Reads blog introduces new ideas and features:

As the Feed My Reads blog continued to grow in the viewer numbers we decided it would be important to offer as many unique features as we could and so over time on our blog space we have offered the following different features -

7 - The blog continues to grow and we approach 50,000 views

As our blog approaches 7 months of existence we near hitting our 50,000th view, which I'm sure you will agree is an impressive number.  At the end of the day I am an individual who works in a contact centre and run the Feed My Reads community by myself with no formal training in social media or blogging.  A quick view of just how many views the blog articles have had shows just how massive the views are showing as and depending on where you review the details we have the below or the highest being read as Tonya Penrose at 674 when viewed by each individual article.


8 - What next for the Feed My Reads blog?

We aim to continue to grow the Feed My Reads blog and bring even more new content for our amazing readers.  This blog is only successful thanks to the amazing people who are contributing to it and those who are reading it and so a massive thank you goes out to all of you for this.
