Feed My Reads recommended in 2022 - day 90

Day 90 of Feed My Reads recommended in 2022 brings us another entry from Maria Frankland with her excellent Hit and Run.  This is a book which has a great story which delivers twists and turns a plenty and is well worth reading.

The sunniest days can yield the darkest news

After years of problem drinking, Fiona is getting her life back on track. She can deal with whatever problems life might throw at her without her former ‘crutch.’

But problems have a nasty habit of raining down all at once.

The greatest threat to her new-found sobriety comes in the shape of two police officers with dreadful news to impart.

As the aftermath of this news escalates, Fiona finds herself not only having to deal with losing her husband Rob, but also with the threat of losing her son, home, money and freedom.

There are several people with cause to have run Rob off the road as he cycled, but Fiona is considered to have had the most motive and is therefore the main suspect. The evidence against her is stacking up, she has no alibi, and no answers to the questions being asked.

For the only person with the answers is dead.

Review:

Imagine having the perfect life, you have a child who is happy and healthy, a husband who is doing well in his job and loves you, everything is perfect other than your mother being constantly cheating on your father and the fact she appears to despise you.  Now imagine the day that your world comes shattering down, your husband has died in a hit and run but they don't even know if it was an accident and the police have you as their main suspect.
This book reads as if it were a real life tale and as we witness each event we are able to feel the turmoil, the emotion, the impact of each of these events and witness the twists and turns these all cause.

This is a beautifully written book by a highly talented author and for me the only real markdown overall was that the ending felt a little rushed and like it could have come out over a few more chapters.
