Feed My Reads recommended in 2022 - day 26

Day 26 of our Feed My Reads recommended in 2022 and a book I have only just finished but really did love, The Victim by Gillian Jackson.  This book is one I really enjoyed and found to be a great read but have seen criticised for the author not knowing police procedures fully but the book doesn't claim to be a police procedural and so I feel this is an unfair take from people and so recommend this book and going into it with the open mind it deserves.

Review:

When a young wife calls 999 to report her husband dead and that she stabbed him it seems like a pretty clear case but was it self defence or planned?  As more details emerge about the wife it is clear she was an abused woman but is everything ever really clear cut?  Evidence is at a premium and there are more than 2 sides to the stories being heard but can the police really get to the bottom of this case or will they just have to go with things being unable to be proven and so take it as being as it looks initially?

This is the second book I've read by this author and she is a true talent.  This book felt like I knew what was coming at times but then it had another little twist to things whilst never feeling like the author was reaching for something that didn't make sense or fit.

This is a great read and one I highly recommend.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW A little introduction: I’m Claude Bouchard, born, raised, and still living in the Montreal (Canada) area. In a prior life, I worked in the corporate world, mainly in human resources management. In 2008, my employer moved our jobs to India and, while I pursued other employment, I published three books I had written long before then continued to write and publish more. Along the way, I realized I had a new job, that of author, and never looked back.  When did your love of books begin?
