AUTHOR INTERVIEW A little introduction: Hi , I am Jacqueline Alexander, author of Wizzy’s Words.    As an early year’s teacher my classroom observations led me to investigate the number of children entering school with poor oral vocabulary.    My research showed that these children start school behind and then tend to stay behind and under perform at age 5, 7, 11, 16…    These children then become adults that are over-represented in the mental health, prison and jobless populations.    I wrote Wizzy’s Words, re-worked nursery rhymes for preschoolers and beyond with the aim of starting to ‘fill the gap’. When did your love of books begin? My love of books evolved from reading Enid Blyton’s,  Ragamuffin Mystery as a child. When did you start to have the wish to become an author? Book - Soul of Lucifer: Lost Author - Rune Rivers Rating -  Review: We all know Lucifer was the fallen angel but do we know all that happened really?  This book is a brilliantly written telling of the battle between Heaven and Hell that is ongoing unseen but what happens when that battle is suddenly seen by a mere mortal and they find that Oren can't return to Heaven due to her injuries? This is a book I went into with no real expectation as it is the first book of this type I am reading but I found myself beyond impressed with the quality of writing, the depth of story and the attention to detail this author takes.  The editing is brilliant and this means you find the book flows perfectly and reads really well. AUTHOR INTERVIEW A little introduction: I’m 33 and live in Belgium, but most of my writing is in English. I enjoy reading across many genres, and write with a slightly cynical pen. I’ve recently finished my debut young adult novel and enjoy movies (like a lot) and playing DnD (perhaps even more), and occasionally tasting craft beers with my friends. When did your love of books begin? To be honest, I am a bit of a late bloomer in that department. I’ve always enjoyed writing, and even book assignments in school, but I was more interested in other things at the time. AUTHOR INTERVIEW When did your love of books begin? I think I first loved books when I was an adult. I grew up having a hard time reading and didn't understand why. I had Dyslexia and no one caught it until I was a senior in school and it was my boss at The Game Keeper who alerted me to the fact that I transposed numbers when I cashed out at night. Then the light came on and I realized that I wasn't stupid, but had a learning disability. I managed to learn with the problem all through school, graduating with a B average, despite my disability. AUTHOR INTERVIEW When did your love of books begin? Probably when I learned to read! I got in "trouble" in primary school for reading instead of listening. When did you start to have the wish to become an author? I had a very inspiring friend in middle school. We were both book lovers and she wanted to become an author. We helped each other grow and experiment until the end of high school. How have you found the process for becoming an author? Writing is the easy part. All the rest is difficult, from finding the time to write to get your work published. Yet, it won't stop me to do it again and again. What would you say to those wanting to become an author? Do it. Write what you have to write, there is a reason why you have this need, this story to tell, whispered by your characters. Book - Bellevue Square Author - Michael Redhill Rating -  Review: Jean lives in Toronto with her husband and two children, she runs her own book store and has an amazing life but when one person asks if she has seen her doppelganger her entire world is turned upside down as surely this can't be a good sign.  Is this the foreshadowing of a death to come or is it just a mad person who is seeing things? As more people report seeing the doppelganger it becomes obvious to Jean that she must find this person and what exactly they are doing but can a curiosity that grows and grows to the point of obsession ever be a healthy thing? This is a fantastically well written book that draws the reader in and pulls them through a journey that twists the mind and makes you question everything as you progress along the journey of Jean and the many characters who her life seems to touch.  The small markdown is that whilst I loved the book throughout, I found myself a little underwhelme...
