TJ Dallas interview
AUTHOR INTERVIEW
A little introduction:
Hi, I'm TJ Dallas. I'm a Scottish sapphic author, and I write mostly supernatural erotica, though I've recently been getting into contemporary romance novellas under the pen name Taryn J Dallas.
When did your love of books begin?
I've always been an avid reader, but I only started writing properly in 2019 when I was 31. I discovered the huge lesfic genre late in life (age 30!) and wanted to get in on that epic fun, lol.
When did you start to have the wish to become an author?
Since I was a teenager, but as above, I didn't actually sit down to write something properly until much later! I wished I'd started writing earlier; hindsight is a wonderful thing.
How have you found the process for becoming an author?
A steep learning curve. Writing the first draft is only the first step... I'm self-published, so there's the editing, the cover design, the formatting, the marketing, the audiobooks, the social media, the website, the newsletters, the merchandise, the commissioned artwork... An indie author is responsible for so much, and I don't think some people realise just how much work (money, time, and effort!) goes in to them.
What would you say to those wanting to become an author?
Do it! You can't please everyone, so write whatever you want. Also, make sure to find some reliable beta readers—they're one of your most valuable resources as an author.
Tell us about your book/books:
I have the Cardinal Series, which is 6 supernatural erotica books featuring the Seven Deadly Sins and the Four Horsewomen of the Apocalypse (#1 is called The Bartender's Pride). I also have two standalones in the Cardinal universe; an erotica anthology of bonus scenes (A Shot of Absinthe), and a fun create your own erotic adventure (Welcome to the Cardinal). I've published one contemporary romance novella so far (called The Planck Paradox) and I'm in the editing stage of my next one.
What do you love about the writing/reading community?
Connecting with other authors and readers who love your books is the most amazing feeling. I likely wouldn't have written anything past the original Pride trilogy (books #1-3) if it hadn't been for the support and encouragement of the online writing/reading community.
If you could say anything to your readers what would it be?
I LOVE YOU ALL! For real though, thank you for taking the time to check out my books and leaving feedback. You're awesome! ❤️
Where can people connect with you?
Twitter mostly (TJDallas7) Instagram (TJDallas7) Facebook (TJ Dallas + The Cardinal Series) Goodreads (TJ Dallas) and my website (www.tjdallas.home.blog).
