Frank Malley interview

Image
AUTHOR INTERVIEW A little introduction: Frank Malley is a former journalist who writes crime fiction, sometimes funny and quirky, sometimes dark and intriguing. His new novel, The 13th Assassin, is a murder mystery cum spy thriller. When did your love of books begin? Back to Enid Blyton and the Famous Five and Secret Seven. As a child I loved the world you could inhabit via ink on a blank piece of paper. I devoured them, not realising that they would lead to a lifelong love of reading and fiction. When did you start to have the wish to become an author? I was a news and sports journalist for many years, travelling the world reporting on all sports and big events such as the Olympics and football world cups. I wrote a memoir of my experiences, Living on the Deadline, which was well received and I enjoyed the writing experience. It inspired me to try to realise a long-time ambition to write a novel. How have you found the process for becoming an author? Having been a journalist I was acc

Rafael Ventura-Rosa interview

AUTHOR INTERVIEW When did your love of books begin? At the age of 9. Due to a childhood accident, I had to remain at home for the entire summer of 1967. I had a lot of time on my hands and got tired of watching The Three  Stooges and Abbott & Costello on TV. That led to my discovery of books, starting with those assigned to my older brother who was in High School. The first book I remember reading in it's entirety was "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich." When did you start to have the wish to become an author? In College. Still working on that first book idea ("Speak No Evil") How have you found the process for becoming an author? Tedious What would you say to those wanting to become an author? Discipline + creative exploration = the best combination. Read the works of great writers. Write what you know and write every day. Do not get in your own way by self-editing. Let the words just flow out of you. "Think it and they will (words) will come."

Feed My Reads recently turned 6 months old and as we are all about those in our community who make the place great we had to reach out to you and make sure our community members know of all those great people they can get to know here and so here are some questions for you. When did you decide to join our Feed My Reads community? Fairly soon after it started I think. What made you join our Feed My Reads community? To promote my books and connect with other writers and readers.  What do you enjoy about being a part of the Feed My Reads community? It's very supportive of us indie authors! Has Feed My Reads helped you in your author journey at all? I've probably had some sales from the retweets etc.  Have you met any people you've formed close bonds with through the Feed My Reads community? No but then I don't think I have close bonds to many people online really!  If you could tell people what the Feed My Reads community it all about and why they should join us then what

Drakka Shade interview

AUTHOR INTERVIEW A little introduction: Hi! My name is Drakka Shade. I'm thirty years old and I love animals. I have a whole lot of pets including four cats, two dogs, and lots of fish. I write adult fantasy and romance novels. When did your love of books begin? My love of books began with my parents reading me books before I knew how. One of my earliest memories from my childhood is running about the house yelling “Stop peef!” (I couldn't say “thief” and I was quoting Peter Rabbit.) When did you start to have the wish to become an author? I started to have the wish of becoming an author when I was six years old. I was in first grade and there was a young author's competition. I immediately began thinking of a character I could write about and submit. I never won, but I always submitted a story for that contest. How have you found the process for becoming an author? I have found the process of becoming an author rather challenging. Of course I had never written a full-lengt

I am a single mother of three girls and one granddaughter, and I am a California girl, born and raised in East Los Angeles now native to Orange County, I spend my days working for the man, and my nights being the WO-man. Book -  But It’s Okay If I Do It: True Confessions of an Unintentional A$$hole Author -  Shirley Laffa Rating -  Review: A very clever and entertaining book about inappropriate things we may have all done at one time or another... YIKES. I actually laughed out loud at some of the situations described. It's written with such humility and humour that it feels very recognizable... or maybe I'm an a$$hole too, I'm not sure! HILARIOUS book that will definitely be re-read.

Henry Corrigan interview

Image
AUTHOR INTERVIEW A little introduction: Henry Corrigan is a bisexual, omnivore author, poet and playwright who writes every kind of story. Whether it’s horror or science fiction, erotica or poetry, high fantasy or children’s books, he writes it all because every story matters to him. They’re what keeps him going. Always an avid reader, Henry started writing poetry in middle school but it wasn’t until he started writing erotica in high school that he really learned the mechanics of writing. What started out as private stories and love letters, soon became publications in anthologies. To date, he has the rough drafts of two science fiction books, one horror novella, one play, four children’s books, numerous poems and several song lyrics waiting in the wings. Above all, he wants to be known for not staying where he’s been put. To always surprise people, especially himself. Because that’s what makes it fun. The feeling that even he doesn’t know what he’s going to do next. When did your lov

Dianne Astle/Eliza Broughton interview

AUTHOR INTERVIEW A little introduction: Always seek the treasure of your own true self. These words guide my work with other people and show up in my writing. I live in beautiful British Columbia with my two dogs, my husband, and his two cats. As well as writing, I enjoy playing in mud. I have a potter’s wheel and kiln in my shop. When not writing, playing in mud, or doing house or garden work, I enjoy fishing. A year ago, I was diagnosed with cancer and given less than a year to live. I am delighted to say that the prediction was off by several years. The cancer has responded very well to chemo. When did your love of books begin? I’ve always enjoyed reading books and would often read a new book every two or three days. Although there was a stent in adulthood when I decided that mature adults did not read fiction. I avoided fiction for a couple of years, but it became clear to me that people needed a little fantasy in their life for mental balance. When did you start to have the wish t

AUTHOR INTERVIEW A little introduction: John Kennedy mainly writes Crime Fiction. His DI Will Ashcroft series is published by Sharpe Books. The first in the series was The Trauma Pool, CWA Debut Dagger shortlisted. and the second was The Kill Chain, both available on Amazon.  The third is fairly imminent. When did your love of books begin? I remember reading a Noddy in Toyland book with my mum. It was the moment of revelation that if I just read one word, then the next, then put the phrases together to read a sentence, then got to the end of the paragraph, and if I could do that then I could read the whole book… that’s what got me going, I think. And you know what? It’s kind of the same with writing. When did you start to have the wish to become an author? I used to draw covers for books and comics and then write pages. Must’ve been eight or nine and did that into my early teens. So, I think it was there from then on, in some form or other. A love of narrative. How have you found the p

When did you start to have the wish to become an author? I remember having a desire to be an author when I was in high school but life happened and that was not in the cards at that time. How have you found the process for becoming an author? The process has been quite rewarding for me. Not only am I learning the editing process but I find writing is a very effective therapeutic tool. What would you say to those wanting to become an author? I would say it does not matter how eloquent you write or what words you use, the main thing is to get your idea down on paper before you forget it. You can always go back and change the wording. Tell us about your book/books: My current work in progress about a young lady about 25 years old fighting to get her brother back but there are several obstacles to overcome. What do you love about t
