Review:

When relationships have been going on for a long time you find the dynamics change, friendships evolve, connections that were there breakdown and divisions begin to develop but surely a simple weekend away as a party of 3 couples for a 50th birthday can't be too much to survive can it?

Liz has been with Andrew for a number of years but when a weekend away in the gorgeous Amalfi coast sees her return to her 2 children without her husband, their father she has to work out where her life is and where it is going.  With Andrew presumed drowned it is going to be a very challenging time for her, thankfully her friends will rally around her and help her through it all but when those friendships appear to not be what she thought they were and suspicions begin to develop in her mind about everyone connected to her and just who her husband really was can she get to the bottom of everything and ensure that her and her children will only have those with their best interests at heart around them.

This was my first time reading work by Laura Mashall and I must say that I am really impressed.  This is an author who has a style of writing that flows beautifully and thanks to short chapters the book is very easy to read and keep track of where you are in the story without becoming overwhelmed with different characters parts in the story.  Twists and turns are done in a subtle way throughout this story so that your focus is constantly on considering things from each side of events but you don't find yourself feeling this is a challenging or tiring read (something you can find where stories are overly thought provoking) and for me this is the true talent of the author as she has a good understanding of how to create the depth to the story without making it an intimidating read.

Highly recommended?  You bet it is!
