Kayleigh Richardson interview
AUTHOR INTERVIEW
When did your love of books begin?
My love of books began when I was young I’ve always loved the stories of Arthur Conan Doyle and wrote a few short stories of my own when I was a young kid around 7.
When did you start to have the wish to become an author?
When I was 13 I found I had a lot of time during the lockdown and I thought I could give it a shot and see where I may end up and eventually I’ve got to the point of being a published author.
How have you found the process for becoming an author?
It’s been tough! But I’ve had a lot of support and for that I’m very grateful. Everyone on Twitter has been incredible and building up this following has enabled me to meet new writers and incredible people on the journey. The publishing process was long and sometimes slow but toward the end things got better and I’m finding it really enjoyable now.
What would you say to those wanting to become an author?
To those wanting to become an author I would say go for it and don’t fear or be overly worried with rejection because one person or several people won’t enjoy your work because it’s not their sort of thing but improvements to make your work better are always good because they can encourage you to write in a better way and you can continue to do so.
Tell us about your book/books:
My book is a dystopian thriller set in the 1800’s it centres around a small family who discover they have a chance to leave the disease spreading through London. But when they get to the island they escaped to they realise everything was safer back in London. It also validates peoples feelings that they may have felt during covid and offers people a small glimpse into another world and takes them out of their zone. It’s a fast paced thriller so you can never be bored.
What do you love about the writing/reading community?
This is my favourite question because the writing community has been so helpful and encouraging for me and they’ve found me a place in their world of writing and I feel so privileged and I love them all so much. Each and everyone of them comes from somewhere different with stories of their own to tell and they are so incredible to interact with.
If you could say anything to your readers what would it be?
I would firstly like to thank them for taking a chance on book and if you get a chance I’d love to hear your thoughts! In ALWASY checking my reviews on Amazon so if you leave one on their I’ll see it and hopefully get back to you and say thank you to you! Please share it with others if you enjoy as it’s always lovely when you can share a good book with friends and family :)
Where can people connect with you?
You can connect with me on tiktok Instagram Twitter Amazon ( via reviews )
