Feed My Reads recommended in 2022 - day 87

Feed My Reads recommended reads for 2022 has not had many quick reads as yet but The Skylight by Louise Candlish manages to pack a huge amount of story into a quick read and really does deserve to be up there as a recommended read.

They can’t see her, but she can see them…

Simone has a secret. She likes to stand at her bathroom window and spy on the couple downstairs through their kitchen skylight. She knows what they eat for breakfast and who they’ve got over for dinner. She knows what mood they’re in before they even step out the door. There’s nothing wrong with looking, is there?

Until one day Simone sees something through the skylight she is not expecting. Something that upsets her so much she begins to plot a terrible crime…

From the author of Our House, the British Book Awards Crime & Thriller of the Year

Review:

You have the perfect life with your boyfriend, the home is perfect and you can see this being your forever but then one day you see something through the skylight that will shake your relationship to the very core and more than that may very well change the entire course of your life.

Written beautifully and with twists and turns throughout, this book is a really amazing read and one that manages to deliver extremely well for a quick read.  The author has clearly made a great deal of effort with creating characters who were believable and a story which flows well, thankfully for me they deliver on all aspects and this is a book I really did love.

Book review - Red For Revenge by Fanny Blake

Book - Red For Revenge Author - Fanny Blake Rating -  Review: When Maggie meets a lovely woman as she is getting her nails done she could never imagine just how much it will change her world.  Having been married to Phil for over 25 years and having 2 children who are grown to the point they are not at home any longer it is the point where Maggie should be starting to enjoy her time at home with Phil but that hasn't seemed to be the case and when she discovers that the woman she has met, Carla, knows Phil too, it starts to stir up the thoughts about her life and just where she is in that life and what she wants from it. This story is a really well thought out and delivered one that works perfectly.  The characters are well developed and for a quick read you find that the story is one that has layers to it that you would expect from a much longer read which shows a true talent from the author. A great book that is a good introduction to this author if you've not read ...

Liv N. Love interview

AUTHOR INTERVIEW When did your love of books begin? I started writing in elementary school. First with poetry, then in middle school, I started writing short stories. It was high school I started with my first book. I've loved writing for as long as I can remember, yet I wasn't much of an avid reader until my 20s when I got my first pair of glasses, and the letters stayed put on the pages. When did you start to have the wish to become an author? I don't really know when this dream first developed, but I was told that I said even in elementary school I was going to be an author. How have you found the process for becoming an author? The process of becoming a traditionally published author, seems almost impossible, especially for someone, like me, who's writing under a pen name, and suffers with such extreme anxiety that I cannot be out in the world as me. That's how I ended up on Twitter and started my website. I'm trying to build a platform, so publishers and ag...

Verena Key interview

Image
AUTHOR INTERVIEW A little introduction: My name is Verena. I live in the German countryside, with my husband, children, and a cat. Our house is in a small village – there is a river nearby, remnants of a medieval fortress on the hill, vineyards, a huge forest… In other words, I don’t have to walk too far in search of inspiration. The downside of our rural habitat is the bad Internet connection, but you can’t have it all. I have a lot of hobbies, such as music, gardening, and beekeeping. And writing, of course, but I guess these days it is hardly a hobby anymore. When did your love of books begin? As soon as I learned how to read, which was when I was five. When did you start to have the wish to become an author? I started writing very early when I was still in school. I guess I’ve always wanted to write, and I wanted to entertain people with my stories. I love to create places and characters, to give them a voice and make them real. I love to get lost in the worlds I create, and I love...
