Stuart Crossley interview

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

A little introduction:

My name is Stuart Crossley, I also write under the pseudonyms S.J.Crowe for dark speculative fiction, and S.J.C. for the dark writes on my blog. I enjoy meditating and walking in nature as it helps especially with the poetry I write on another site.

When did your love of books begin?

From a very early age I have always enjoyed reading. What began with a wide variety of books ,only became wider with time. I would read mythology ,the next minute I would be reading classics like Sherlock Holmes or Bram Stoker's 'Dracula '.

When did you start to have the wish to become an author?

After many years (I started at 15 or closer to 16) of writing in private, I accidentally came across a website called allpoetry.com and decided to enter ,I have been writing there ever since. Now at 44 for the last couple of year I have been focusing on darker short story writing.

How have you found the process for becoming an author?

I have yet to release my first self- published book,so I can't really accurately say, although I do know some information as regards the scenario.

What would you say to those wanting to become an author?

My advice would be to read quite avidly and write every day, even if it is just a blog post, the way that works best for me personally is even when you feel that you can't finish a piece, keep it anyway (I have a few unfinished manuscripts),as someday you might be able to rework it,or use it for another piece.

Tell us about your book/books:

I have been in two anthologies of dark drabble 'Forest of fear volume 3' by the now defunct Blood Song Books and '666' by Black Hare Press. Both of which are available on Amazon.
As mentioned before I plan to self- publish under my name (Stuart J. Crossley) the link to the first excerpt on my wordpress is at the bottom of this page. The link to the anthologies I have been in are also at the end of this blog post.

What do you love about the writing/reading community?

The thing I love most  about the reading/writing community is that there is a strong sense of unity . For example, those more experienced and those not ,are always prepared to help others as writers by offering their opinions of your work, requesting ARC'S , showcasing others books on their newsletter, etc. Even if someone just reads and comments on a book ,the writer themselves may see things they could change, where they could not do so before.

If you could say anything to your readers what would it be?

Aside from what I have already said ,I would like to thank my friends and family , all at Black Hare Press ,and at the former Blood Song Books, and Kelly Arts for the stunning cover for my first book. I will not go into individual names as I am bound to leave someone out. I obviously have to mention my darling Daughter Tia who I love very much. Even though I have not named everyone, know this ,if you are a friend of mine you are a friend for life.
