Alex Knepper interview

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

A little introduction:

Alex Knepper is a part time writer of fantasy fiction and poetry. She has two published short stories and is currently working on a fantasy novel.

When did your love of books begin?

I’ve been a voracious reader ever since I was a child. My first loves were the Magic Tree House Series by Mary Pope Osborne and the Cam Jansen Series by David A Adler.

When did you start to have the wish to become an author?

I always wrote little stories, but the books that inspired me to be an author was the A Song of Ice and Fire books.

How have you found the process for becoming an author?

The process of becoming an author has been arduous and rewarding. Writing has taught me time and time again that I am more capable than I give myself credit for. But it’s also been a journey of humility and gratitude as well. In short, it’s not what I expected.

What would you say to those wanting to become an author?

Write everyday. Just shoot for writing one page a day, whether its a journal entry, your grocery list, or notes and prose about the book you want to write. The sheer act of writing will bring the stories. I promise.

Tell us about your book/books:

I have two short stories published. “Missed” is about a recently widowed mother with a secret. And “Peaches” is a parody about smart phones, how we communicate in the modern world, and the nature of language. I also publish free form poetry & haikus in my newsletter which (mostly) are inspired from the novel I am working on.

What do you love about the writing/reading community?

I love how supportive everyone is in the writing community. The writing community on twitter especially is a friendly group of people who have a passion for words and storytelling.

If you could say anything to your readers what would it be?

Thank you.
