Stuart Gibbon interview
AUTHOR INTERVIEW
A little introduction:
My
name is Stuart Gibbon and I’m originally from the north-east of England. I
joined the police in London when I was 16 and had a career spanning more than
30 years. I now help authors with their police procedure and I also write true
crime books.
When did your love of books begin?
I’ve
been reading for as long as I can remember. My parents used to read to me a lot
and as soon as I could read I was hooked.
When did you start to have the wish to become an author?
I
think most of us have a book in us but it was only after I finished my police
career that I began to think it was possible. A conversation with my friend,
crime historian Stephen Wade, made me realise that writing was something I
really wanted to do and becoming an author has been a dream come true.
How have you found the process for becoming an author?
I
think the process is tough and can be pretty stressful. I was lucky that I
found a brilliant publisher at an early stage which certainly made the road to publication
less bumpy.
What would you say to those wanting to become an author?
Keep
writing, try to stay positive and never give up. There will be someone out
there who will like what you do, it’s just a case of finding them.
