AUTHOR INTERVIEW

A little introduction:

Hello! I'm Felix! I'm a new author living in Alberta, Canada. I have Scottish and Ukrainian heritage, but I was born and raised in Canada. I love hiking and music (and writing, of course!). Currently, I'm working as a lifeguard and swim instructor!

When did your love of books begin?

I've been reading for as long as I can remember, however the first book I remember really, really loving was "A World Without Heroes" by Brandon Mull. After that, I started voraciously devouring fantasy and sci-fi novels of all kinds.

When did you start to have the wish to become an author?

I knew that I wanted to create stories and give pure escapism to others ever since I really started getting into the fantasy genre. I'd been writing since eighth grade, but it had always been for fun and never something I took seriously. But I started writing more and more, and eventually, I had finished a couple books. None of those early books will ever see the light of day (they are truly awful) but it gave me lots of practice. During the Covid lockdowns, I decided that I wanted to try and seriously write a book that I could share with the world.

How have you found the process for becoming an author?

I've found it pretty nerve-wracking, but also very rewarding. It's a long process, and it's difficult to keep motivated, however, once you start seeing some results, it all feels worth it. That being said, I definitely feel like I haven't had the best sense of direction and have been zigzagging around a lot, just trying to see what works and what doesn't, making lots of mistakes, and trying to figure out what I actually need to do to get a book out to people.

What would you say to those wanting to become an author?

At worst, you'll have a new experience. At best? You all know what could happen. If you're at all interested in writing, don't be afraid to share your vision with the world. It will take lots of time and work, but as long as you keep the end goal in mind, you'll finish, and hopefully, you'll finish strong! Whatever you do, just don't give up!

Tell us about your book/books:

I've just recently published my debut novel, Crown of Rebellion on Kindle UnlimitedIt's an epic fantasy adventure filled with action, worldbuilding, political intrigue, and romance. As the title might suggest, it's about a rebellious state fighting back against a larger, incredibly powerful foe that threatens to wipe them off the surface of the world.
Not sure if I'm able to put a blurb here (or if this is another one of those "mistakes" I was talking about earlier) but here it is!
The world drowns in darkness. Two unlikely heroes rise to face their destiny…
Pirin is an aspiring healer yearning for adventure. Myraden is an exiled noblewoman bent on revenge. They are the only hope for the elven kingdom of Sirdia.
As the Dominion prepares for its final conquest, determined to enslave the North, Sirdia stands as the last bastion of hope. Armies gather, mages awaken, and evil spreads. Surrounded by enemies and plagued by an empty throne, all odds are against Sirdia.
For the sake of adventure and revenge, Pirin and Myraden must embark on a perilous journey to unlock their full potential and save Sirdia. Their strength, their courage, and their very souls will be tested. It's a journey of madness, but it's their only chance to change the course of history.

I also write some webserials on Royal Road. Currently, I'm working on a project called Mediator: Godscourge Awakened, which is a flintlock fantasy loaded with lots of sci-fi themes and ideas.

If you're at all interested in either of these, you can find my links at the end of this post.

What do you love about the writing/reading community?

I love all the positivity here! I love that everyone seems willing to lower the ladder and help others climb up, and I love the willingness to support indie authors. No matter who you are, this community always seems willing to support a complete stranger!

If you could say anything to your readers what would it be?

Thank you so much for giving me a shot. Even if you didn't like my work, I'm glad you at least tried to read my work. Seriously, I can't be more thankful for an opportunity to try something like this.
