Randolph Howell interview

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

When did your love of books begin?

In high school. A teacher gave me a copy of “the Hobbit” and I just loved it.

When did you start to have the wish to become an author?

It all started with a short story for a portfolio in high school. I had this dream of a knight walking down this small path wearing armor of gold, and I just had to write it down. I wrote 4 pages that night and gave it to my teachers. They loved it. They push me to keep working on it. Keep developing this world and characters I’ve created. Now it is a book that I am proud of.

How have you found the process for becoming an author?

It has been difficult, but things worth having always are.

What would you say to those wanting to become an author?

Never give up. There is going to be hard times, dark times, and times that will make you believe it will never workout, but you have to keep going. If you want to achieve something you have to be willing to put in the work and never give up.

Tell us about your book/books:

Legends of Daer: Champions of Tylwyth

follows Isabella Strongfellow, a young, tomboyish farmer's girl with a courageous soul as she journeys to find a cure for her brother's magical slumber. Blaming herself for the incident, Isabella will stop at nothing to help save him. In her father's shadow; she travels across Lyer Island bound to a quest tangled in intrigue that reaches across boundaries she never imagined.

What would you sacrifice if it meant saving someone you loved?

A rift rips her from the world she knows and transports her abruptly to a new land flourishing with magic, but distant from her dire goal. She encounters a diverse world of new beings and uncovers a terrible plague that is threatening not only her brother, but all of existence. Along the way she is bestowed the gift of magic by a noble wolf spirit, Lucian.

An imprisoned blood god

utilizes agents across three distinct mirrored worlds to gain freedom and wreak havoc. Isabella must seek more animal spirits and hope that with their combined strength, they will contend with this evil, cure her brother, and return all of the realms to peace. Will she be able to gather the strength needed to contain an ancient evil? Does the price of magic, attuning with spirits, and battling blood gods prove too steep of a cost for a young, rambunctious girl? Indulge your curiosity by joining Isabella on her journey through the Worlds of Daer.

What do you love about the writing/reading community?

The togetherness of everyone. I like how you can always find help with anything that bothers you.

If you could say anything to your readers what would it be?

I hope that my work takes you on a magical adventure that leaves you wanting more.
