Danny Dickerson interview
AUTHOR INTERVIEW
A little introduction:
Danny Dickerson grew up caring way too much about things like movies, art, and comic books. In school his mind would be replaying the best scenes from the latest movie he seen rather than pay attention in class. When that wasn't enough he'd skip school to get to the movies. Whether he would walk or ride his bike one way or another, he'd get there. And instead of homework, he would be drawing. He was the product of an over active imagination that later turned into a skill he now uses to craft interesting stories. One such story, Hell's Play, is soon to be published into a book.
When did your love of books begin?
For me, I love stories whether they're told through books, movies, a netflix series/TV show, or stage play. And that started when I was young, jus a kid but then, I dove more into it when I began to become a troubled teen.
When did you start to have the wish to become an author?
I really wanted to become an actor and be involved in film or TV. Since that's a hard field to break into but I still wanted to be involved in stories I chose to become a writer.
Stallone was my top inspiration growing up. If you look at how he wrote Rocky and never gave up on becoming the megastar he eventually became to be. It's so impressive and it's people like him that make me think you can do anything.
How have you found the process for becoming an author?
My first book "Hell's Play" is about five years in the making. It took about 2 1/2 years to write it and then, another year to realize I needed to hire an editor to give it the professional touch up it desperately needed. After that, Publishers began to notice me and I signed with Olympia Publishers in August of 2021. It's projected to print soon and launch in January 2023.
Tell us about your book/books:
A man’s life falls apart after he wins the lottery. He is murdered by his wife’s boyfriend but he believes he survived. Each day becomes darker and darker with more hellish things occurring and later realizes that he didn’t survive his attack but has unwillingly become a leading role Hell's Play.
Once escaping his intended doom he is shown a way of afterlife that exists that he could never imagine. Humor tempers the dark subject matter as he walks among the darkness and finds new horrors making his future uncertain. Taking the setting of a purgatory wasteland whereby many hell’s plays are taking place and anything can happen.
Those not entering heaven are unknowingly victims in evil charade called Hell’s Play. The demons are actors who take the likeness of people the victims knew. The goal is to lead the victims down a dark and scary path of their darkest fears to then take their soul.
