AUTHOR INTERVIEW

A little introduction:

I am a British writer who loves fantasy and science fiction, though I do dabble in all other genres. I have had numerous stories published by the online magazine Secret Attic and I’ve attained the finalist, shortlist and honourable mention spot in a few international competitions by Reedsy Prompts and Globe Soup.

When did your love of books begin?

My parents read to me from a young age and I’ve been a bookworm ever since. I remember having a dictionary on my bedside table and getting books out of the library that were too hard for me to read.

When did you start to have the wish to become an author?

Again, when I was young. At ten-years-old, my school teacher asked us to write down what we wanted to be when we grew up. I wrote ‘Rock Star or Author’.

How have you found the process for becoming an author?

Interesting. There is a lot I didn’t realise was involved: editing, beta reading, proofreading, pitching, querying… It’s a continuous learning experience.

What would you say to those wanting to become an author?

Read and write as much as you can. Don’t worry if you think your writing is awful (it probably will be at first), just keep writing. Find a writing community, let others read your work and listen to the feedback. Write what you want to write and don't give up!

Tell us about your book/books:

I am in the process of self-publishing a collection of fantasy and science fiction short stories that I’ve written over the past few years. It is an eclectic collection of whimsy, adventure, romance, action and horror – but nothing too heavy – and I think it will make for an enjoyable read.

What do you love about the writing/reading community?

Support and encouragement! It’s great to find a community of like-minded individuals and the sharing of ideas, tips, advice, and opportunities is brilliant.

If you could say anything to your readers what would it be?

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed my stories as much as I enjoyed writing them.
