Valerie Storm interview

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

When did your love of books begin?

I think I've always loved books, or for as long as I can remember. I remember preferring to read in elementary school rather than sit with my classmates! There was always something special about being able to step into other worlds.

When did you start to have the wish to become an author?

When I was around ten, I started seriously writing my own stories. I wrote them on lined paper and stapled them together to make my own little books—I think around that time is when I subconsciously started to think "One day, I will do something serious with this."

How have you found the process for becoming an author?

It's a veeeery long road, and not everyone will be treading the same path. There's a lot of work to put in, and a lot of growth for you as an author and a person. Personally, it was always a battle about learning how to better myself and my writing, and not let criticism offend me.

What would you say to those wanting to become an author?

Learn your flaws, and be prepared to face them. I eventually learned that I write characters well, but I don't do descriptions very well. We all have strengths and weaknesses, and we can come together and help each other! Annnnd: follow advice that is right for you and your books. Not all criticism is valid.

Tell us about your book/books:

So I'm currently writing wolf demon Kari's series, Demon Storm. It's going to be 8 books, following Kari as she tries to find her place in the world—will she be the one who destroys it all, or can she find the path toward a home she always wanted?

What do you love about the writing/reading community?

I love the friends I've made! It really is a community, once you've found yours. I have so many people I can turn to for questions, advice, or inspiration—and simple friendships too. We talk about everything, not just writing, and it feels so good to have those connections.

If you could say anything to your readers what would it be?

I LOVE ALL OF YOU. Seriously, any single time I see someone say they care even a little bit about my writing, I am over the moon. It's such a damn blessing to capture the attention of people as a writer!

Where can people connect with you?

I'm mostly on twitter @Valerie_Storm, that's probably the best place honestly!
