Book interview - The Demagogue Wars

Please tell us a little about the book

The Demagogue Wars is a cautionary tale for all Americans. The clarion call to turn away from the divisive politics of 2020 (the year I began writing), the totality of destruction caused by civil war(s), and the unimaginable horrors of a future WWIII; with terrifying, highly-advanced weapons systems that could easily end life as we know it on earth.

Where did the inspiration come from for your book?

Oh, man! Where to start?!? The world news via mainstream and broadcast media. The Joe Rogan Experience. Clips of Professor Jordan Peterson. The movie “The Tomorrow War” starring the incomparable Chris Pratt. The 80’s hit movie “Red Dawn.” The dark (evil?) corners of social media: think radicalization of youth or the disenfranchised/ marginalized (ISIS, Q-Anon, Antifa).

How did you find the experience of writing this book?

It was a rollercoaster for sure! One minute it’s exhilarating and the next you doubt yourself to the point of swearing off keyboards forever! At the end of the day though, it is so rewarding to hold one completed chapter in your hand; with or without the inevitable red ink that comes with editing over and over again…

Did you draw any inspiration from any real life people with any of your characters?

Absolutely!! Everyone in this book is either a part of my own personality, someone I know personally, or a famous actor/ character. For instance, the hard-charging freedom fighter named “J.J. Lynch” is in Memory of my good friend Jeff Lynch who died when we were Seniors at Ledford High School. That young man was a stud and would have made one helluva soldier!

If you could say anything to readers of this  book then what would it be?

Give it a fair shot politically. I did not write this story to “callout” the right, or the left, or any person, or any one group of people. Within all of us lives the propensity to choose either good or evil. If you don’t like the politics of chapter one, then keep reading. I believe you will find yourself questioning if the characters of this story even care about partisan politics as they fight, suffer, and fight some more just for survival.

Are there plans for more from these characters, or is it a stand alone piece?

Absolutely! I plan on releasing several short stories on the Kindle Unlimited platform. Stay tuned for origin stories of some of my favorite characters!
