Tash Shabazz interview

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

A little introduction:

I Am TaSh Shabazz! I was born and raised in Sarasota, FL. My earliest memory of being aware that I had a love and gift for writing was when I was about 10 years old. I've fallen in love with poetry and words in general. I love the versatility that comes with the utilization of words. With words, you can LITERALLY create a whole new world!

When did your love of books begin?

My love for books started when I was in 9th grade. Me and my 2 friends Meredyth and Althia would trade urban novels and read them after school. Back then my face was ALWAYS in a book.

When did you start to have the wish to become an author?

There was a memory that came up on my Facebook from 3 years ago that read "I will be a published author in 5 years"... I did it in 3!!!!!!!

How have you found the process for becoming an author?

It has been the most rewarding thing I've done. Looking at physical copies of my book brings me so much joy. But I constantly remind myself that I am still a student. I love learning from other workers and look forward to collaborating with others.

What would you say to those wanting to become an author?

WRITE!!!! NETWORK!!! AND WRITE SOME MORE. Get the book written! There are so many people and resources that are ready and willing to inspire and assist you! In my experience, the writing community is the most open and receptive community I've ever been exposed to.

Tell us about your book/books:

The title of my book is "Heal Queen Heal". It is a poetry compilation that shows and proves how words assist in overcoming trials and tribulations. In this book, I use the power of poetry to show my readers how I overcame issues in life.

What do you love about the writing/reading community?

I love the diversity and the receptiveness! So many beautiful souls with creative minds!

If you could say anything to your readers what would it be?

Stay encouraged! This experience is beautiful and reading opens your mind to endless possibilities!

Where can people connect with you?
