When did your love of books begin?

It might sound weird coming from an author, but I wouldn't say I have a love of books so much as a love of stories. I love stories both in book form and movie form. I think that love has always been a part of me. However, I would say I truly became a reader in high school, which was actually after I had been writing for a few years.

When did you start to have the wish to become an author?

I started writing in middle school when I was twelve, but I'm not sure when exactly I decided that I wanted to be a novelist. 

How have you found the process for becoming an author?

If you are asking how it's gone for me (I'm not sure), then I would say slow. There is a lot I'm learning now that I wish I knew when I started. But back then, I only thought about finishing that first book.

What would you say to those wanting to become an author?

Do your research. Start joining author groups now to learn and get to know people (don't shy away because you don't feel like a real author yet.) And don't give up on your dreams even if they have to change shape or happen at a different pace than you first hoped.

Tell us about your book/books:

I've published four novels so far in the genre of women's fiction. They are emotional stories with uplifting endings. Here is a list of them with blurbs:

1. When the Storm ends 

Beth thought her violent childhood was something she left in the past—until she met Erin. Now the abuse of her step-father has returned in terrifying nightmares.

Beth became a child psychologist so she could help children who are broken and hurting, but Erin, the fifteen-year-old who killed her father, is different. If Beth can’t reach her and find out why she did it, Erin will spend the rest of her childhood behind bars. To most people, it looks simple—Erin is either crazy or evil, but when Beth looks into Erin’s haunted eyes, she’s sure that something terrible was done to this girl. Erin, however, isn’t talking.

Beth believes Erin might open up to someone with whom she feels a kinship. Of course, Beth knows she shouldn’t share her own past with a patient, but the clock is ticking toward Erin’s trial, and Beth is out of options.

Little does Beth know that taking this terrifying leap will not only reveal the truth about Erin, but will rip Beth’s past wide open as well—and a connection between them that will shake Beth to the core.

2. The Rift Between Us

After a family dinner turns into a bitter fight, sisters Maria, Lauren, and Avery decide to go their separate ways. Their father warns them that someday they will need one another. When he dies suddenly, they learn that he intends to make sure that they do. He’s left them a substantial inheritance, far more than any of them ever imagined.

There’s just one catch. If they want the money, they will have to spend two weeks together at a secluded lake house and follow all of their father’s instructions—no matter how strange.

Their task seems simple enough, but each one is holding onto painful secrets and old grudges the others know nothing about. But if they can learn to trust each other again, they might be able to mend the rift between them and give their father his dying wish.

3. Where Hope is Found

A family beach vacation turns to tragedy and Marissa must find a way for her and her traumatized eight-year-old daughter, Maisy, to move forward and heal. But memories of what she lost surround her, threatening to take her to a dark place; a place she can never go again.

When her brother extends an invitation for her and Maisy to move in with him on Princess Island, Marissa thinks it might just be the fresh start she needs. But can she really find hope and healing on an island surrounded by the same ocean that broke her heart? 

4. Remember the Butterfly

Something unexpected changes the course of Jillian’s life.

After witnessing her sister’s murder, she’s been tormented by survivor’s guilt. Her desperate longing for a child compounds her grief, while endless fertility treatments weigh down her soul.

Just when hope seems beyond her grasp, her dream of motherhood comes true. All Jillian’s pain is washed away and joy fills her heart.

But when someone shows up threatening to take it all away, Jillian must choose between holding on to her newfound happiness or giving it all up for the sake of someone she loves.

What do you love about the writing/reading community?

For the most part, my experience has been that people in this community are helpful and encouraging. I've gotten so much useful information from fellow authors.

If you could say anything to your readers what would it be?

I would say that I hope my books will make you laugh and cry and generally give you all the feels. And I'd also say, please reach out and tell me how you liked the book. I'd love to hear from you.
