E.J. Rose interview

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

When did your love of books begin?

I cannot remember a time when I didn't love books. Well, stories I mean, in any forms. Movies, plays, books and television.

When did you start to have the wish to become an author?

I remember writing a story when I was 10 years old, "Timmy the Pickpocket" it was called. I can't remember what the plot was but I think that was when the desire started. I have always found it easier to express myself with words rather than verbalise.

How have you found the process for becoming an author?

I have found it a roller-coaster of emotions, having landed an agent only to lose them to bankruptcy after a year together was devastating. Deciding to self-publish rather than wait for someone to accept me was a big decision. Traditional publishing is always in the dream but I want my stories to be shared and enjoyed now.

What would you say to those wanting to become an author?

It's a tough business to say the least and acquiring an agent and then getting published is near enough impossible. But you got to give it your all and it might just happen. Don't be afraid to self publish and get some exposure first and who knows the right person might see it. My advice for your manuscripts would be Edit Edit Edit, even when you think it's ready and perfectly polished, edit once more. Keep writing stories because you love it  and your skills will develop with time.

Tell us about your book/books:

My earlier books were poetry and drama but since my daughter was born in 2017, my passion has been children's books. I have a new series of children's books called Twinkle Moon. All available on amazon, apple, barns and noble and smashwords as ebooks. They are all self published and the dream is to see them with illustrations and be able to show my daughter our stories come to life.

What do you love about the writing/reading community?

They're hands down the most welcoming and supportive community that you're ever going to find. We are all a family!

If you could say anything to your readers what would it be?

Only that I hope I have affected them in a positive way and brought joy to their children's bedtime stories.

Where can people connect with you?
