Indie April is nearly over but why not make May special?

Feed My Reads is a proud member of the book community and we genuinely love the amazing book releases that come out throughout the year but find it somewhat sad that indie authors do seem to be only really given special attention during April and so we thought it would be interesting to put forward May as being the month to 'maybe try something new'.

Feed My Reads created badges for those who are willing to try new things and so May would be the perfect month to get at least some of the badges we offer.  Are you up for the challenge?

For those who try a new author in the month of May we have this badge to acknowledge it.  One new author and making them an indie author could lead to you finding some amazing new reads and if you were to review their work you would also make their day.

Many readers find their genre they enjoy and stick to it, which we completely understand, but why not try a new genre in May and earn this badge?  Trying a new genre could mean you find it isn't for you but it could also lead to you finding a whole new range of books that you will be able to look forward to reading in future.

Many readers out there have been given this impression of indie authors have books that are of a low quality and full of mistakes but this is simply not the case.  Indie authors understand that their work has to be of the highest quality as they are in a marketplace that is extremely challenging and so you will often find that their work is even more impressive than many of the traditionally published authors out there.  Why not try an indie author and earn this badge in the month of May?

We'd love to see people genuinely buy into this idea and so please do share it all with us so that we can know about your purchases, who you are going to be trying out, what genre you are trying, etc.  This is about being part of something and so we'd love to hear you are behind this new idea.

Let's use May to 'maybe try something new'

  1. This is a great idea. How do we go about getting badges? Is there a reporting system or something?
