Peter Servidio interview

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

A little introduction:

Peter Servidio is a life-long learner with a passion for writing and is the author of the Earth Has Fallen series. After a childhood filled with reading books by Tolkien, Hubbard, Greenwood, Matheson, and Salvatore, Servidio has brought his imagination to life in his writings. His interests range from post-apocalyptic and dystopian worlds, to dabbling in crime novels and the metaphysical.

Having earned his doctorate from St. Thomas University, Servidio works as a College and Correspondence Coordinator for the Maine Department of Corrections as well as teachers part time at the University of Maine at Augusta. Readers have marked his writing as a “balance or realism and fantastical” that incorporates “a touch of King, a dash of Stein , and a hint of Tolkien.”

He lives in Southern Maine with his wife and three daughters. Just to make sure to keep busy, he also has two cats and a dog. When not working, writing, or spending time with his family, Servidio enjoys Dungeons & Dragons as well as MMORPGs.

When did your love of books begin?

Since I can remember, I have always loved reading and writing. My passion was further increased when I discovered the Forgotten Realm novels. Specifically anything by R.A. Salvatore or Ed Greenwood.

When did you start to have the wish to become an author?

When I was younger I would write stories and dream of having them read by people all over the world. However, the idea of becoming a real author began with the pandemic. It was like I finally had time to write.

How have you found the process for becoming an author?

The writing part is enjoyable. What I have realized is there is so much more to being an author besides the writing. This is especially true for indie authors.

What would you say to those wanting to become an author?

My main piece of advice is to have thick skin. Although you will find many people who love what you write, you will come across trolls and haters. You know what your worth is, don’t let others decide that for you.

Tell us about your book/books:

Currently I have about 18 novellas and short stories published or publishing this year. My main focus is post-apocalyptic science fiction; however I also write horror, paranormal, thriller, and crime. Here is a brief sampling of some of my works:

Earth Has Fallen Series (Post-Apocalyptic Adventure):

-        Loreto

-        Return from Darkness

-        Conflict Rising

-        Return to the Surface

-        New Frontier

This series follows Loreto as he returns to the surface fifty or so years after a global nuclear war. What he encounters is both realistic and fantastical. Can one young man help humanity rebuild?

Agents of Tomorrow Series (Post-Apocalypse Survival):

-        The Deliverance

-        Into Nothingness

-        Finding Salvation

This series follows a convict named Joshua Miller who must decide to take care of himself or keep a promise to a friend when a viral outbreak turns the world upside down.

Devils Don’t Fly (Paranormal Demon Thriller):

-        Souls to Keep

-        Souls to Have

Can Thomas Paige ever get his life back after making a deal at the Crossroads? Furthermore, how can he stop the Rapture?

Stand Alone Novellas and Short Stories:

-        The Chimera Project (Dystopian)

-        Chain of Events (Dystopian Timewarp)

-        Without Conscious (Crime, graphic Violence)

-        Transcendence (Fantasy)

-        The Dark Citadel (Classic Fantasy Adventure)

-        The Spoon (Horror, Explicit)

-        Jimmy Rickers (Bullying, Paranormal)

-        The Legend of Abigail Fell (Horror, Paranormal)

-        Angel Eyes (Crime)

What do you love about the writing/reading community?

I have been blown away at the willingness of authors to help one another. It is cliche, but the writing/reading community is a family.

If you could say anything to your readers what would it be?

“Buy my books! The life you change may be my own.”
