Peyton Lawson interview

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

A little introduction:

Peyton Lawson is a debut British romance author. She writes spicy Viking romance and loves the alpha male! She enjoys reading and traveling.

When did your love of books begin?

I think I really started appreciating books when I was in my teens. I spent most weekends by the sea in my parent’s country home. The drive from Manchester was long, and my mum suggested I read a book when it became apparent that looking out the window was no longer amusing me. Books became my constant companions and they made the time we spent at the cottage over the summer fly by when none of my friends were available for a visit.

When did you start to have the wish to become an author?

A lot of the books I read were historical and set in the UK. But the ones I like best were the old Viking romances. They seemed to have fallen out of favour and I decided to revive the genre, so to speak. With Viking-themed shows on Netflix and other streaming services, I figured I wasn’t alone in my love of trapping Viking warriors!

How have you found the process for becoming an author?

When the idea first came to me, I was sure it would take ages to write a book, let alone publish it. It tend to get easily overwhelmed, so I decided to just start writing and deal with the rest once I had a viable manuscript. I set aside some time every day to write. I was surprised at how disciplined I was and how fast the story came together.

What would you say to those wanting to become an author?

There will never be too many books. I ran out of the type of books I liked to read and decided to write them myself. I’m sure there’s a place for your story out in the bookverse. Just write it, the readers will come!

Tell us about your book/books:

My most popular books are those in the Jürgensen Vikings Series. It’s about five brothers on a quest to restore family honor, build a name for themselves, and right several wrongs. Their father disappeared when they were boys. They have vowed to avenge him.

As Kindle Vella isn’t available in the UK, I decided to make my own version by breaking down the story into five novellas so I could make it available as I wrote it.

What do you love about the writing/reading community?

Everyone’s been so forthcoming with advice. Fellow romance writers are an amazing group of individuals. They are always willing to help newcomers learn all facets of the trade and make it easy to promote one another’s books.

If you could say anything to your readers what would it be?

I am so grateful to have found readers who love Vikings as much as I do. I’m starting a Newsletter soon so I can engage with my readers on a more personal basis.
