Book interview - Mailbox Metal by Sal Nudo

Please tell us a little about the book

"Mailbox Metal" is about a famous heavy metal drummer and his sidekick, who hurl down a country road with the loud music of Stone Temple Pilots filling the truck. Trouble ensues when one of the misfits attempts the world's fastest U-turn.

Where did the inspiration come from for your book?

This lightning-fast read was at one time the beginning portion of a novella that never came to pass.

How did you find the experience of writing this book?

Kind of weird because at one time the story was much longer. I salvaged the beginning portion, however, and it's now available for all to enjoy (or not) on Amazon for 99 cents.

Did you draw any inspiration from any real life people with any of your characters?

No way! You'll see why after reading the story.

If you could say anything to readers of this  book then what would it be?

As mentioned, this super-fast read was at one time the beginning portion of a novella. In that story one of these fiery dudes survives, though he probably wished he hadn't. The poor soul found himself on the run from the law and almost chopped up by a combine in a cornfield, where he was sleeping off a brutal hangover. His travels by foot led him to an underground hole where he was kept prisoner by a madman, and later he was a witness to an unexpected murder. The novella concludes years in the future at a bar on a faraway beach. A past cop who was chasing this guy for years is coincidentally there and talking to the unlawful protagonist, who is serving him drinks. Neither recognizes the other—at first. The lawman takes note when our formerly on-the-run protagonist performs a heroic deed at this exotic locale, and all past transgressions by our tested character are forgiven. The story was way too unlikely and sprawling for its own good, but I always liked the start of it, and I hope you will, too. At a mere 99 cents, it's hard to hate it.

Are there plans for more from these characters, or is it a stand alone piece?

I'm sparing the world a continuation of this story, though a sequel is intriguing.

Where can we purchase your book?
