Jessica Piro interview

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

A little introduction:

Hi, I’m Jessica Piro (pronounced: pie-row). I live in Northeast Louisiana with my parents, two brothers, and a three-legged cat, and I’m in a wheelchair because of Friedreich’s Ataxia and have Type 1 Diabetes. For now, I write mainly suspenseful thrillers for Adults but I plan on trying out different genres with YA and NA audiences.

When did your love of books begin?

Love of books? Since I was born. My parents read to me all the time growing up. Love of writing? When I wrote my first Halloween story in the 4th grade.

When did you start to have the wish to become an author?

In the 6th grade after I finished my longest full story: 60 pages—wow! Such a feat!

How have you found the process for becoming an author?

It varies, day by day. One day it’s exhilarating, serotonin-inducing, and you feel accomplished because you’ve written something and published it, when so many others don’t have the courage to do. Then others, it’s challenging, depressing, and soul-crushing because of marketing (like you’re shouting into the void) and overly cruel readers.

What would you say to those wanting to become an author?

Never give up. If it is your dream, you must fight for it. Anything meaningful doesn’t come easy, and you must remember that. Not everyone is going to like your book and you got to accept that. You are going to get those hateful, cruel, ridiculous reviews. It’s part of the game.

Tell us about your book/books:

I currently have 5 books available right now. My first novel length book is Ascension of the Phoenix. It’s an action-packed suspenseful thriller following a female detective who struggles with grief alongside a dark side wanting revenge. The sequel is out, too—The Dragon of Russia—including their accompanying short stories—The Panther’s Pride and The Crane’s Dance. And the last is a standalone fantasy-like short story called It’s the Small Things That Matter.

What do you love about the writing/reading community?

One word: supportive. If you need help, you can find it. Want comfort, to vent, or just want to feel you’re not alone? Go there. The writing/reading community is where you can find your fans.

If you could say anything to your readers what would it be?

Thank you so much for reading my stories! I hope you enjoyed them, and please, PLEASE, leave a review with your rating on Amazon, wherever you purchased my book, and Goodreads! Hopefully you liked my writing and will continue to follow me on my writing journey and read my future works.

Where can people connect with you?

I'm mainly on Twitter but I also have accounts on some popular apps/social media. My website is the best place to find more info on me and my books.
