Review:

When you have lived your whole life in one place it means others have come and gone from your life often but what happens when your childhood best friend, who you had all those amazing adventures with, leaves at the perfectly wrong time in your life and then even worse, returns at what appears to be the exactly wrong time in your life too?  Do you avoid them?  Do you tell them how their leaving made you feel?  Scarlett is faced with exactly this dilemma when her childhood best friend Dylan returns to the village of Springhollow in the lead up to Christmas but will her favourite time of year be ruined or might this be the very best Christmas she ever had?

This is my first time reading anything by Lucy Knott but on the back of this amazing story I have already purchased her other works too.  The story has a perfect flow, a gorgeous writing style and characters who felt both believable and also ones you had feelings towards.  The ultimate thing here is that in a world filled with books that can feel like an author has taken an idea and tried to stretch it into a story, I found Lucy had so many little touches and flourishes that made it clear this was an overall idea and nothing in the story felt like it was simply added in to pad out a small idea.
