Nicola May - My Dinner Party

Where are you holding your dinner party?

I am holding my dinner party at Burgh Island, an Art Deco Hotel on its own private island in Cornwall, home to the romantic ghosts of times past and Infinite sea views.

What's the occasion you are holding the dinner party for?

Who are your five guests and why are they invited?

My five guests are Marian Keyes, Milly Johnson, Carole Matthews, Jane Fallon and Agatha Christie because they have all been inspirational in my writing journey.

What food are you serving?

Fresh crab sandwiches and a Cornish Cream tea, of course.

What's your cocktail or mocktail for the dinner party?

Just copious amounts of champagne.

What music are you having played during your dinner party?

The best pop from the 80’s and 90’s.

You've raised a book to have a bit of a discussion about, which book is it and why?

Rosamunde Pilcher’s, The Shell Seekers, a beautiful book written in 1987. Shifting in time, and based in Cornwall, the novel tells the story of Penelope Keeling, the daughter of unconventional parents (an artist father and his much-younger French wife), examining her past and her relationships with her adult children.

It's time for bed, what book are you retiring to your bed with?

Milly Johnson’s, The Woman in the Middle. Out now. The Woman in the Middle: the perfect escapist read from the much-loved Sunday Times bestseller: Amazon.co.uk: Johnson, Milly: 9781471198991: Books
