Ellie Douglas interview

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

A little introduction:

Ellie Douglas is a Kiwi, born and raised in New Zealand.

She's addicted to everything related to Horror. Her love affair with horror led her to write award-winning horror fiction, and there's always more of that on the way. She enjoys creating strong characters who rise above their ordinary lives in their quests to survive and prevail. She strives to give her readers amazing stories that she herself would read.

Being a natural Creative, she also has adult coloring books, themed journals, children's books, and an online casino slot game in her repertoire; but her main focus is on her horror tales. She's also available to make book covers, banners, logos, video trailers, and animation.

Her ultimate aim is to give back, by entertaining her audience, paying it forward by helping others, and constantly bettering herself. She donates what spare time she has to volunteer work with autistic children.

Ellie would love to frighten you out of your wits! Connect with her at http://www.authorellie.com/

When did your love of books begin?

From the age of around seven :)

When did you start to have the wish to become an author?

In my early twenties.

How have you found the process for becoming an author?

I’ve found the process of being an indie author hard, but great. I’ve also had my taste at being traditionally published, and I loved that as well. The process of being an author is continuous, there is much more to it, than just writing a great book. To name a few of the things we have to do; Find the right editor. Find beta readers. Doing book research. I’m fortunate in one aspect, because I’m a graphics artist. I was able to build and design my website, make book covers, do animations, etc. Part of the process of being an author is also to build up your social media, gaining an audience, gaining subscribers to your newsletter, promoting and appearing on podcasts and the like, are just a few of the things needed to be done.

What would you say to those wanting to become an author?

I’d say, follow your dreams :)

Tell us about your book/books:

The genre in which I write is horror. Horror-thriller. Horror-psychological. All of my books are geared up in such a way that even the goriest and scariest of them all hold one very important factor, the characters. The characters drive the story forward. Every book I write has unique in depth characters. Readers will get to hate, and or love my characters along the way. I’ve got a huge passion for horror and I get a thrill when I can scare someone.

What do you love about the writing/reading community?

I love the support that the writing/reading community offers. We support one another in a huge way, which is awesome. You can find a truck load of tips, information, and be pointed in the right direction by helpers within the writing/reading community. The support offered is extensive and you get to make a lot of friends along the way.

If you could say anything to your readers what would it be?

Thank you for reading my books, without you I wouldn’t be who I am :)
