C.S. Evans interview

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

A little introduction:

Hi! My name is Clair and I write as C. S. Evans. I'm a mum of three wonderful sons, servant to three cats and an occasional swinger of swords. I also cook, read and knit a lot. I used to be a police officer and also used to work with horses. Now I write novels with just a smattering of fantasy and magic, set in a medieval kind of age.

When did your love of books begin?

My mum taught me to read before I even started school so I always loved books. I think I was around seven years old when I wrote a story about my dad being an airline pilot. When parents' evening came around, it was decided I had a vivid imagination - he worked in a factory!

When did you start to have the wish to become an author?

My first attempt was when I moved to a new area to live on a farm. Until I found a job I kept busy writing, but nothing came of that particular story.

How have you found the process for becoming an author?

Frustrating at times, especially when technology misbehaves! But it really is the best job in the world. It's the best feeling in the world when you can let your imagination run wild onto the screen.

What would you say to those wanting to become an author?

Be prepared to put in a lot of work, especially after the words 'The End'. That's when the hard graft really starts. But don't let anything or anyone put you off. It's all worth it. Write about what YOU love, not what you think others want to read.

Tell us about your book/books:

I have one book out at the moment: 'The Soul Conductor.' The protagonist is Quinn, a not-quite-human being tasked with escorting souls from this plane to the next, where they face eternal judgement for the life they have lived. The trouble begins when one particularly nasty individual refuses to accept his fate, leading to tragedy and all manner of disasters for Quinn and his friends to overcome.

I am working on the sequel, 'The Soul Destroyer', which so far is 70,000 words long.

What do you love about the writing/reading community?

Everyone is so supportive and encouraging. If you need ideas, they are ready to share them. If you have a problem, they are ready with advice. Best of all, they can make you laugh until you cry when you're having a bad day at the keyboard.

If you could say anything to your readers what would it be?

Be gentle! It's my first time!

Where can people connect with you?

I'm mainly on Twitter @graveyardmuse or I can be found on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/graveyardmuse
