Bookworm Blogger - My Dinner Party
Where are you holding your dinner party?
As soon as I saw this question the first place that sprung to mind was where I got married, Grittleton House. This was a gorgeous venue and the driveway at night is absolutely gorgeous. We visited it a few years ago and were amazed to find that one of our pictures from our wedding was hanging up in the corridor. It's the perfect place to hold a dinner party and they even have amazing accommodation so no late taxis home!
What's the occasion you are holding the dinner party for?
I'm holding the dinner party in honour of my book club, Tsundoku Squad. I met these fantastic ladies on social media last year and now my world wouldn't be the same without them. We are yet to meet in real life and so this dinner party would mark a very special occasion.
Who are your five guests and why are they invited?
I'm going to break the rules here, don't worry I'll cover the extra costs, but I'm inviting all 12 of my book club members. There's no way I can pick just 5 of them, that's like trying to choose your favourite child!
What food are you serving?
It would have to be all my favourites. I'm going to skip the starter as it's all about the mains and the puddings. I hope no one is counting calories because the will be food heaven! For the main I have chosen cheese and spaghetti souffle. This is basically spaghetti in a cheese sauce with a souffle on top but it is amazing and totally worth all the calories! To go with this I normally served peeled plum tomatoes or cucumber. For pudding I would choose a melt un the middle chocolate pudding served with fresh whipped cream and strawberries. Then I will finish the meal off with cheese and biscuits and cups of tea and coffee.
What's your cocktail or mocktail for the dinner party?
I'm not a huge drinker but I do love a passionfruit martini (also known as a pornstar martini). I'd also serve it as a cocktail tree with sparklers galore like they do in Slug and Lettuce!
What music are you having played during your dinner party?
I'd have to get a band so we can boogie the night away!
You've raised a book to have a bit of a discussion about, which book is it and why?
Oooh that is a hard one as there are so many books out there. As we've been reading together I would probably talk about all of our book club reads, whilst we've talked about them together it would be nice to talk face to face. I think THUG (The Hate U Give) will probably be a hot topic as it's been one of our favourites this year.
It's time for bed, what book are you retiring to your bed with?
I'm going to have to choose my current book club read , The Maid by Nita Prose.
Great read. Enjoyed your party. That main course of pasta and soufflĂ©……… followed by chocolate melt in the middle with strawberry and cream. My waist line couldn’t cope with too many of your fabulous meals. Loved the venue. Must have been a wonderful day
