Book review - Crimson Forest by Christine Gabriel

Book - Crimson Forest (The Crimson Chronicles book 1)

Author - Christine Gabriel

Rating -

Review:

In her debut novel Christine Gabriel delivers the first in her Crimson Chronicles series which sees eighteen year old Angelina Adams fleeing an attacker who has killed her mother and as she flees she enters the Crimson Forest to try to save herself.  After entering the forest she comes across a handsome stranger named Nicolai who promises to protect her from the attacker and other evils but can she trust this stranger?  As she continues through the forest she discovers things are not as they seem and that things thought to be myths are more real than anyone could ever imagine.
For me this is a strong debut novel and at times I did find Christine seemed to deliver things a little quicker than would normally be expected (something taking one chapter where it would normally take three) but for me this is because this is what I have been used to from other authors and I realised the this was not detracting from the feel of the story or the flow of things.  The romance aspect to this was not too much of a focus where it would detract from the actual story and so it is a great read for those who may are in to something more fantasy based than romance based.
